Out of my shell and a new ava

I'll start by saying i have a new avatar ;)

anyway, me being drunk and tired right now (took me 10 minutes to design the ava, and about the same time to write these words, before i go to bed ;) ), I'll make it short.

99.9% of the works you see in my gallery are for personal progress.
The only work i received money for, being the first and the last of it's kind is MorninGlory Festival, sold for 900$.

That means, i never take money for the works you see here.
I've been asked like a 1000000000 times to make logos, logotypes, webdesigns for companies all around the globe, for a lot of money... BUT i never replied. why?

Well, i think it's a whole different world to design something for a client who is not yourself. So i got scared, fearing that maybe i won't do it right...that i will not deliver the right "package". Also, i thought that the moment I'll feel like i am capable of making worthy designs that are acceptable by myself, I'll start designing for money.


I'm writing these words because... I think i'm out of my shell. I'm ready to do this. Get some bucks for the passion of my life - design.

So let's do this :)

Piano: Summer Journey + Birthday

Hey friends: guess what? It's my 20th Birthday :)
I'll add nothing to that except to say that tonight i drank so much vodka & absent, that i just wasted half of the night in the club, on the floor, dead-like.

News:
I have an irritating habit of writing music for the piano. Well, not writing, since i don't have the time to do so. I play things i feel, and then i remember it and add parts every once in a while.
Well, finally i gathered all the pieces into one creation: I call it: Summer Journey
So here's something you didn't know about me: I write music ;)

1 YEAR OF DEVIATIONS

haha, a year (and 4 days) has passed since i joined da!
I don't think i could have done so much progress without all of your support, criticism & LOVE!

my little story is, i wanted to start painting like my big brother, who is a very talented artist. He's name is Sunny (like the song lol).
I searched the internet for tips on how to start painting, and then i found DA.
i don't know why, but the first place i found was the Web-interface section, and i was amazed at the designs made here, so original, never before seen styles and such...
I remember thinking to myself that maybe i could start designing web interfaces and then i'll continue to more artistic forms...

But it took me and didn't let go :)
I remember i tried to find out what makes the top artists here so special; Kwaku was using shadow effects in a way I've never seen; Kakkr (Osec) was using lightning effects, again something insanely original...; Rasice was making simple but mind blowing webdesigns;

The army was hard to handle, as you know, and i was given about 2 days a week to design, when i returned home...Don't know how i made it so far, really don't ;\


I started designing logos as well, the first ones were not something, but i think now they are ok ;)

Also, 2 months ago i started getting into the REAL art stuff, like abstract... and photomanip. That's a very different art style and i'll hope to get better and better whoaa!

ARMY VS DESIGN

first let me say that my english is very bad... so forgive me ;)

This is my first journal entry here so i'd like to say some things about my life..

My name is Tom Abulash.. I live in a small town in Israel,
and I'm 20 years old. for 2 years now i'm in the IDF - Israel defence army, in a classified unit (not joking ).

Most of the week i'm in the army... while in the weekend (Thursday-Saturday), i'm allowed to go back home, and it's a 5 hour trip ;\
Every month I get to "close" the entire week at the base, which really sucks!
If you've seen the movie 'Jarhead' you'll understand..
....Only we have girls there ;)

So what i'm trying to friggin' say is, Webdesign is not so easy while you'r far away from home....and i don't even get to think about it most of the time. The designs you see me publish are made at weekend nights, while i'm drunk and tired from going out with my friends (and girlfriend ;) )

Never before I thought about skeching the design in a notebook and ONLY THEN actually working on it....but this week I had the chance to do so.. and 'SKECHIFOLIO' is the solution's start point for the shit-i've-got-no-time-to-design problem ;)

So about the notebook skeches - This week at my base I've made like 50 pages of skeches...since I guard my base about 8 hours a week ( +14 hours weekend ), I've thought why not skeching some thingyz?
So I came up with some really fine logos and the SKECHI concept, and also the COOL website name 'BeyondConvas.com', and most importantly, 'ReaderOnline' which is an E-shop for books I intend to work on this week.

* Hmmm I've got new avatar yeeah! ;)
